Advancing health systems through evidence-based policy decision supports
'Ramathibodi Health Policy and Systems Research' is the research team at the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand. We are the multidisciplinary team composed of senior researchers and emerging scholars. The unit is dedicated to advancing health systems through evidence-based research to support informed policy development and decision-making across various levels. The team's research spans a wide range of pressing challenges within Thailand's health system, employing diverse methodologies to address these complex issues. In addition to conducting impactful studies, the unit aims to serve as an incubator for the next generation of health policy and systems researchers, equipping them to play a pivotal role in the future development of the country's health systems.
Our research spans across the full spectrum of health policy and systems inquiry—from rigorous policy evaluation and advanced quantitative analytics to structural and political-economic analyses of health systems. Together, these approaches ensure that our work captures both the measurable outcomes and the deeper institutional dynamics shaping health and wellbeing of global citizen.
We conduct comprehensive evaluations of health policies and programmes through integrated qualitative and quantitative approaches. This includes implementation research, natural experiments, participatory studies, and real-world policy impact assessments.
Our team specializes in large-scale data analytics, econometric modelling, geospatial health analysis, machine learning applications, and health system performance measurement to generate robust, actionable evidence for policymakers.
We examine how power, governance structures, historical trajectories, and economic arrangements shape health system performance and reform pathways. This includes crisis analyses, welfare state evolution, institutional design, and equity-focused policy research grounded in political economy.
Our multidisciplinary team brings together senior scholars, researchers, clinicians, policy analysts, data scientists, and graduate students committed to advancing Thailand's health system through rigorous and policy-relevant research. We work collaboratively across disciplines to generate insights that support stronger, more equitable, and more resilient health systems. We actively welcome collaboration with national and international partners in areas such as health policy evaluation, emergency and public health systems research, political economy of health, large-scale data analytics, and innovation for strengthening health system governance and performance.
